🎤 The Rector of the Pushkin Institute, Nikita Gusev, spoke at the panel with a presentation titled “The Russian Language as an Investment in the Future: The Russian Language Center in Malaysia as a Platform for Training Competitive Specialists and Expanding Academic Cooperation.”

“We see the Russian language as a competitive advantage in the job market—an investment in human capital and in the future of Russia–Malaysia relations across various fields. Our partnership is built not merely on signed agreements but on real, ongoing work with Malaysia’s leading universities: The University of Malaysia, University Kuala Lumpur, and UCYP University,” he noted.

❗Nikita Gusev highlighted the work of Malaysia’s first Russian Language Center, established by the Pushkin Institute in partnership with UCYP University. He emphasized that the Center currently has 96 students across four groups—motivated young learners from Malaysia.

“The Russian Language Center is an effective and growing model that reflects the increasing interest of both countries in developing cooperation across various sectors. Russian has been introduced as an elective course in the university’s curriculum and is taught five days a week, two academic hours per day, giving students a strong competitive edge compared to other foreign languages. In addition to Russian, lecturers and researchers from the Pushkin Institute offer relevant courses on history, arts, literature, philosophy, new technologies, and artificial intelligence in education,” he added.

💡 Gusev also mentioned that four UCYP University students, selected through a competitive process, received invitations to an in-person internship in Moscow at the Pushkin Institute. During the one-month program, they will undergo intensive Russian language training, immerse themselves in Russian culture, and explore Moscow’s landmarks.

🔗 The Pushkin Institute continues to actively support the development of the Russian language in Malaysia. The first in-person Russian language classes taught by Pushkin Institute instructors began in December 2024 and continued throughout 2025 as part of agreements reached during the second meeting of the Russia–Malaysia Working Group on Education, Science, and Technology in April in Malacca. Pushkin Institute instructors conduct classes at the University of Malaya, UCYP University, and the Russian House in Kuala Lumpur.
